The Motivation You Were Looking for: "Omar" NBWerk Highlight of the Month.

 Werk FAM!!! What’s Good?

God First! AINT NUN BUT SOME WERK

For our latest blog, you will read about Omar.

Omar is someone who challenges me mentally. Hopefully, you experience the same challenge. For me, it hard to construct excuses when you see the power we have. When you see someone who ignored the obvious excuses he could have, and push towards his goals and dreams… it challenged me to consider what or why I consider what I face a challenge.

Read about Omar, our NBWerk Highlight this month

Omar's words of encouragement and motivation.

“Omar joined the field house in January 2017, born in Chicago Omar has been through A lot since A young age. After being hit by A automobile taken four blocks away from his house at age 6 (05/18/94) and dragged three blocks his Dad always being his hero being by his side in the ambulance rushing to the closest hospital while Omar was still breathing from all the damages, his heart finally stopped beating inside in the emergency room going through A (saver) surgery resulted in him being in A coma for three months and 22 days each day that passed by doctors told his love ones to sing Omar’s favorite song that it might help him wake up, Omar having tears fall down his face while listening to his Dad’s voice and having family visiting him from far away to pray for his wakening his Dad also prayed to change his life around so his baby boy could live again. Omar meeting god he felt the ultímate happiness by his side but he was forced to fall from his paradise-like an angel while his body was being shacked 2 times back to life if it wasn’t for Omar’s parents being in the surgery room begging for A third shock he would not be here to be an example and aspiring everyone he meets, waking up from coma spending three more months in the hospital recovering and relearning everything again that he had forgotten from the accident nine specialist doctors told him that he would not be able to walk again from all the damages done to him. Omar refused to listen and refused to live the rest of his life in A wheelchair always having faith in god Omar was determined to walk again by pushing himself to the limits and improving with his dedication each day by disciplining himself, they took me to shryiners hospital It took 5 years to find A doctor that didn’t give up on me where the specialist doctor akmen never gave up on me saying every time how amazingly strong he described me to be as A survivor. 14 years old was the limit doctor akmen could work with me but he still wanted to work on me so he still saw me 3 more years. Over the years Omar has gone through nine surgeries to fix the damages from the accident. Instead of Omar being lazy sitting in front of A TV he is always active full of amazing energy doing much more than just walking again he exercises in beast mode without making excuses, he runs, jumps, dances & even has his dream job at the field house so he wants to see what happens if the person reading this doesn’t give up and keeps going that extra mile cause mentally you can achieve greatness and he is proof of that. Let Omar be that important motivation in your life that you need to fight for your goals always working twice as hard.”

For me, Omar is motivation. I’m thankful for the way Omar challenges me. How can I say I can’t, how can I use the excuses, how can I not go for what I believe? Omar is a werker. Omar is NBWerk. Omar is what I think of when I see challenges. Omar is proof that with God all you have to do is werk. I see Omar as I enter the gym and he makes me go harder. I see Omar at the end of a workout and I want to go harder the next one. I see Omar and realize that the only disability is in the mind. We are able to do hard things. We are capable of accomplishing more than we think. We are able! We are Able! Know it in the mind. Let our body be lead by this truth.

Big thanks to Omar for sharing his story with me, and allowing me to share it with you.
