Deal with your past for the sake of your future.
To drown a man you put concrete on his foot. To drown a man you put weight on him. To drown a man you do anything that will keep him under.
The man will drown if he can’t take the concrete off. The man will drown if he keeps the weight on. The man will drown unless he refuses the force used to hold him under.
The failures of your past will drown you unless you let them go.
To get above water... to get to your future you must remove whatever holds you down. You have to remove anything that makes you mentally doubt the future you desire. Doubt is a weight. Regret is concrete. Remembering your past failures, in ways that keep you from believing in your future, will keep you under.
Your future demands a few things. All of you, the best you, and you to believe the future is sure. None of which is possible if you use your past as anything but a lesson. Admit the fall. Prove that resurrection is real.
The best you is creative. The best you is flowing. The best you is moving in what you are meant to do. We discussed the harm in adding weight. Be free. You messed up… so what?! Do better now you know better.
Don’t accept weight.
From people that remind you. From people that have created a limit for your life that God did not agree upon! Don’t accept weight from yourself. When you choose to compare your life with another’s, you actively give away purpose for your own.
The tortoise and the hare!
If the tortoise judged his race by where the hare was, he might have lost focus like the hare. Like the tortoise, run your race and focus on your goal.
